Feature overview
This is a high-level guide to what DockDoor Pro can do. It may not
include every small option, and details can change as new updates
ship.
General
Startup, display placement, visibility, and native Dock behavior.
Startup
- Launch DockDoor Pro when you log in.
- Show or hide the menu bar icon.
- Show a settings button in the Dock while settings are open.
Position and display
- Choose the screen where the Dock appears.
- Set the default Dock edge: bottom, top, left, or right.
- Override Dock position per connected display.
- Hide the Dock while fullscreen apps are active.
- Shrink windows that would overlap the Dock.
- Keep DockDoor Pro visible when Show Desktop is active.
Auto-hide and native Dock
- Auto-hide the Dock when it is not in use.
- Tune show delay and auto-hide animation speed.
- Hide the built-in macOS Dock.
- Move the built-in Dock to another edge while DockDoor Pro is active.
- Restore the built-in Dock when DockDoor Pro quits.
Dock and Profiles
Profile management, pinned content, running apps, and Dock item behavior.
Profiles
- Create, enable, rename, duplicate, and delete Dock profiles.
- Assign profile names, SF Symbol icons, and background images.
- Link profiles to apps with AppSense so the active profile can change when an app gains focus.
- Assign profiles to displays and switch profiles from the Dock or Control Center.
Pinned items
- Edit and reorder pinned Dock items.
- Add applications, folders, files, web links, app groups, separators, and spacers.
- Customize icons for apps, folders, files, and web links.
- Adjust custom icon scale inside the icon slot.
- Highlight app names for pinned app items.
Content behavior
- Show running apps that are not pinned.
- Show separators between icon groups.
- Expand folder contents inline in the Dock.
- Choose folder display style: list or swipeable grid.
- Show folder hover previews.
- Show notification badges on app icons.
- Show enhanced running indicators and per-app window counts.
Control Center
Quick actions, drawer apps, and the long-press control panel.
Quick Actions
- Create action buttons for launch items, macOS Shortcuts, app controls, settings, and File Tray info.
- Use custom SF Symbols for action buttons.
- Ask for confirmation before quitting or restarting DockDoor Pro from a Quick Action.
Control panel layout
- Reorder Control Center sections.
- Hide and restore Control Center sections.
- Configure drawer apps used for quick launching.
- Expose profile switching, app launching, audio, power, and custom actions from the drawer.
File Tray
Temporary file staging directly from the Dock.
Behavior
- Choose what happens when clicking a file: open it or show it in Finder.
- Require confirmation before removing files from the tray.
- Drag files into the tray for temporary staging.
- Drag staged files out, open them, reveal them, or move them to Trash.
AirDrop
- Show an AirDrop drop zone while dragging near the File Tray.
- Use the tray as a quick handoff point for sharing files.
Appearance
Layout, sizing, color, glass, borders, indicators, and magnification.
Layout and sizing
- Choose floating Dock or full-width taskbar style.
- Show, hide, compact, or inline the profile button.
- Show page indicators for inline profile switching.
- Fit profile and widget scroll bars inside the rounded Dock container.
- Tune icon size, screen margin, edge padding, icon spacing, widget gap, anchor position, anchored end, and anchor offset.
Color and material
- Override app color scheme and panel color scheme separately.
- Use the system accent color or choose an accent color.
- Choose Dock background style: Liquid Glass, frosted material, or clear.
- Apply styles to the Dock only or to panels and popovers as well.
- Tune glass opacity, blur radius, saturation, tint intensity, material blur style, border opacity, border width, and light-mode overlay brightness.
Shape, indicators, and magnification
- Tune Dock background radius, card rounding, and panel corner radius.
- Choose running app indicator style.
- Tune icon inset, card opacity, and app-color tint for card indicators.
- Dim minimized or hidden app icons.
- Enable magnification, choose style, max size, and hover range.
- Choose whether widgets, profile controls, and settings controls participate in magnification.
- Keep magnification active while panels are open.
Interactions
Clicks, gestures, haptics, keyboard navigation, and window behavior.
Click and window actions
- Choose what happens when clicking the active app icon.
- Set fallback behavior for cycling a focused app with one window.
- Middle-click a running app icon to quit it.
- Quit an app when its last tracked window closes.
- Apply last-window quit behavior globally or only to selected apps.
- Choose apps included in selected-app last-window quitting.
Pointer, trackpad, and drag behavior
- Trigger long-press actions by hovering over an icon.
- Tune hover delay and long-press delay.
- Skip hover delay when a panel is already open.
- Tune scroll sensitivity for volume control and profile cycling.
- Enable haptic feedback and hover haptics.
- Bounce icons while launching and when new windows open.
- Show tooltips on hover.
- Drag files onto app icons to open them with that app.
- Assign actions to pinch in, pinch out, and swipe-toward-Dock gestures on running app icons.
Keyboard
- Enable keyboard shortcuts for Dock controls and window navigation.
- Use an Alt+Tab-style all-windows switcher.
- Use Preview Navigator to open and cycle window previews from the keyboard.
- Assign Preview Navigator action keys.
- Assign keybinds for advanced window control from previews.
- Choose how window activation is confirmed.
- Choose initializer key and physical modifier key side.
- Enter Dock edit mode from the keyboard.
- Cycle Dock profiles on the current screen.
- Toggle DockDoor Pro hidden on all screens.
- Use letter navigation to jump to matching running apps.

Window Previews
Live previews, switcher behavior, preview layout, titles, controls, and window actions.
Preview behavior
- Show live window thumbnails from DockDoor Pro's own Dock icons on hover or long press.
- Use the Alt+Tab-style all-windows switcher from the keyboard.
- Choose whether switcher previews appear immediately or after a short hold.
- Sort Dock preview windows and reverse their order.
- Sort switcher windows and reverse their order.
- Enable dynamic image sizing based on the window aspect ratio.
- Set fixed preview width or a width limit.
Preview appearance
- Tune selection opacity and preview animations.
- Show the app icon and app name above previews.
- Show CPU and memory process stats next to the app name.
- Show window titles and choose title visibility.
- Show browser profile badges on supported previews.
- Switch to compact list mode when many windows are open.
Preview controls
- Choose when window action controls appear.
- Choose up to five enabled preview actions and their order.
- Use monochrome controls or colored controls.
- Use a frosted pill background for controls.
- Position window controls and window titles.
- Embed controls over the preview image.
- Available actions include Focus, Bring to Current Space, Close, Minimize, Restore, Toggle Minimize, Hide App, Show App, Toggle Hidden, Enter Full Screen, Exit Full Screen, Fullscreen, Quit App, Force Quit, Maximize, Fill Left Half, Fill Right Half, Fill Top Half, Fill Bottom Half, and quarter tiling.
Account and updates
- Activate or manage a DockDoor Pro license.

Backup and diagnostics
- Export and import all DockDoor Pro settings and profiles.
- Move a setup between Macs with backup and restore.
